    Unknown alba/aureum -any ideas ?

Has an In-Charm Topaz vibe (not saying it is).

Paph In-Charm Topaz (Lisa x Davelle)

FWIW - I have done several In-Charm Topaz crosses and have 2 thoughts for you: 1) in my experience only about 30% of the progeny get the yellow color to come through, and 2) breeding with niveum has a tendency to 'bleach' things, though the complex background in ICT might overwhelm the...

Six Paph. gratrixianum flowers in a 5 inch pot

I love shrubs!!! Which I define as lots of blooming growths in a small pot. I blame my love of shrubs on the AOS Bulletin cover photo in the '70s with a Paph. delenatii with lots of flowers in a small-ish pot.

    paphiopedilum Sirita Magray

Love brachy X fairrie crosses! Well done!

    Bulbophyllum treschii ‘Octopussy’

FWIW - these bloom several times a year in the hot south (summers around 90) though in 'Brachy shade' (~850fc) - might be interesting to see what they do in brighter light!

    Root Structure P. armeniacum

When I repot armeniacums with stolons, I gently point & hold the stolon upwards, close to the main growth, as I repot. They'll reach the surface faster and turn into a normal growth.

    Growing in Tampa

FYI - Krull Smith is having a sale/Festival on Jan. 16, 2020; I think Apopka is roughly a 2 hour drive from Tampa.

    Paph. haynaldianum 'Bear' x 'Bear-1'

"Daylight - or it's reflections - is the best light!!" And most digital cameras default to a Daylight white balance and work best with sunlight/daylight. :)👍

    Paph rungsuriyanum & canhii

The P. rungsuriyanum article by Olaf Gruss in the new issue of the AOS Bulletin describes the habitat temperatures as more 'intermediate' than 'cool' IMO: summer highs up to the mid-80s and winter lows to the mid-50s. I have read of growers outside the US successfully growing them much warmer...

    Paph rungsuriyanum & canhii

Well done! I hear that rungsuriyanum is a happy weed compared to the recalcitrant canhii.

Paph. dianthum album ‘Only the Lonely’

Looking forward to seeing yours fully open! I selfed & sibbed the pair I had open last July - pods still cooking! - and I want to see how mine compare. :D

Is this Paph micranthum large enough to bloom?

FWIW - Several kinds of orchids that 'require cold' can be fooled with 'winter dry'. When I'd see Den. aggregatum in catalogs in the '70s, they were always listed as cool or intermediate-cool growing. BUT I have friends in central Florida that grow huge shrubs of D. aggregatum that bloom with...

Few more Paphis in autumn 2020

Perhaps, maybe... you are growing too bright or too dark? I know some orchids need sun to 'color up', and some orchids bleach out in bright light. And yes, sometimes it is just genetics. :)👍

    ‘Guess the hybrid’ Game

Absolutely fairrieanum X canhii. Well-grown (of course!).

Paphiopedilum charlesworthii fma. album ‘White Knight’ x ‘First Class’

Congrats Kate on a beautiful flower and plant! I have some old ones (Taiwan flask) that are pretty nice but I've had no luck selfing or sibbing them. The ones I have will blast every bud if you grow them next to the regular charlesworthiis - they have to be shadier and closer to the wet pad.

    Phal. borneensis

Thanks! It might be like Phal. equestris is for me - it's too hot here when these plants bloom and it's hard to get seed pods to form/hold.

    Phal. borneensis

What can you tell me about Phal. lemelligera? I grew out a flask of them from Taiwan many years ago, only have 2-3 plants left. They are difficult to set seed on: you have to remove the pollen from 1 flower, dry it in the greenhouse 1-2 days, and then put the pollen into another flower. Even...
