Paph. Haur Jih Isabel 'Belle of the Ball' FCC/AOS

I’m sorry you’ve had such rough weather there. It’s finally starting to turn quite cold here. But at least we finally got some rain. We had the driest October I can remember this year.

plant import permits freak me out

So glad your plants made it to you in such lovely condition. I’ve heard and seen some real horror stories on ST. A slight squished petal is not bad at all.

This has been a crazy year for weather. I hope things settle down and your brother gets his power back quickly. I hope Paphman910 is okay as well. I don’t think I’ve seen him on here in the past few days. Getting hit with a “bomb cyclone” sounds terrifying!

I’m so glad! And I hope the weather has calmed down. I saw on the news that you were getting hit with 80 mph winds!! I’m amazed your power was still working. And thank you-I had a lovely time with some very old friends. We’ve been trying to get together for quite a long time and it was...

I’ve been out of town with old friends and not looking at my phone. I’m just now seeing this and so delighted to see you and your beautiful Belle surrounded by that avalanche of ribbons! Such a wonderful fairytale ending. And very happy to see the two of you featured under a post that doesn’t...

    Aircone pots

I’ve been using Rand’s aircone pots for some of my paphs for about a year. The complex paphs seem to love them. The ones that were reported into the aircone pots have grown much faster than their counterparts. However some of my larger multifloral paphs really dry out a little quicker than I...

Oooh! I like this! First I’ve heard of this one and it’s very nice. Love that stripe in the dorsal and the leaves are definitely impressive.

    Thermostatically controlled heating mats

The ones I use are waterproof but everyone gets hauled to the bathroom to be watered anyway

    Thermostatically controlled heating mats

I also started using these last year for plants that like to stay a bit more on the warm side and for seedlings. My grow room is upstairs on the back of the house and you can get a little chilly in there in the winter even with the heat on.
