Very nice! Great shape. Is it as big as it looks? P.S. Are you going to Montreal this year?

Rose pogonia and butterfly on my new YouTube channel

The link doesn't point to that video. I couldn't find that one but I watched the Cyp reginae and Calypso bulbosa videos. Very nice.

    Phrag kovachii

Hi Dan. The growth rate is quite good. I'm using Manitoba limestone. I use it the potting mix as well.

    Dendrobium scabrilingue

I can't keep these alive for long. I have trouble with all the Nigrohirsute species. I hope yours does better. It looks pretty healthy.

    Phrag longifolium

Very nice. Do you give these any special treatment or standard Phrag culture?

    Peruflora's Cirila Alca

Nice. I like the stripes in the pouch and the pastel colour. How big did it get?

    PeruFlora's Cirilia Alca

This one just opened. I crossed it with my kovachii last year. The result should be like Phrag Apollo hopefully. and a photo of the plant I've been growing this one cool for the last year. It's too big to fit under the lights upstairs.

Thanks John. I thought about sending it to SOOS, but I decided to pollinate it instead. I'd rather have a seed pod than an award. Thanks everyone for your comments.

Gorgeous! The color is really interesting. Did you take it home with you?

Yes. Sometimes higher. When the air conditioning was broken it got close to 30 sometimes.

It's growing indoors under lights, so there's not much temperature variation. The heat has been set at 21+ all winter. Maybe the dry air helps prevent rot. I find I have to water twice as often since I got a new furnace a couple of years ago. Maybe I just got a tougher clone. Keep doing whatever...

    Soph Dagmar's Delight

Crossing a warm growing and cool growing species usually makes a hybrid that's easier to grow. These can be grown warm or cool.

    Dracuvallia Dracula's Bane

I pot them in sphagnum mixed with perlite, charcoal and tree fern to keep the moss open and airy. I'm not sure it work as well at warmer temperatures.

Elisio, This kovachii flask was prepared using half strength P658, which is P668 with agar already added. I added coconut water and banana. I also put 1/4 teaspoon of granular limestone in the bottom of each flask before adding the medium and sterilizing. The limestone has seems to have...

I use a medium like the one described on the link above, with the addition of styrofoam peanuts. I put a layer of diatomite and gravel in the bottom, fill in about half the space around the roots with styrofoam peanuts, and then fill the pot with a mixture of chopped NZ sphagnum, perlite...

Eric, It would be perfectly happy growing on top of your stove. :poke::rollhappy:

    Dracuvallia Dracula's Bane

It's nothing elaborate - 40 gal. aquarium with plastic grid in the bottom so the plants aren't sitting water, covered with plastic sheet turned back at the front corners to allow a bit of air circulation. There's no fan, but they don't seem to mind the lack of air circulation. They love the...
