    laevigatum grown in a basket

:mad::mad: And you bloomed out one of the babies from this plant before any of mine have got around to it:mad::mad:

Any breeders who focus on getting bigger pouch on paph?

I would suspect that the bulk of breeding goes to producing flat round flowers with "balance" of structural elements. I've seen at judging centers that flowers with disproportionate pouches (or petals/sepals...) are rated negatively. So if you want big pouch flowers you'll probably need to...

    Amesiella monticola

Very Cool Cambri:clap::clap: That's also a neat concept of a project plant. Right at this moment the OSF link does not appear to be working.

    laevigatum grown in a basket

Actually I don't "repot" this system. As the media and wood breaks down I just put them in bigger baskets. However I agree when I did plastic baskets it definitely more traumatizing to move overgrown plants out of the plastic baskets.

    laevigatum grown in a basket

Thanks Mike. Like this: Actually this is not a philli, but hirsuitissimum. I think its been somewhere about 4 years ago I chopped off about 25% or so of this plant when I put it into this pot. NYErik should have the date. Its about 1/3 filled with limestone driveway gravel. I have a long...

I selfed this plant too the last time it bloomed, but Troy Meyers hasn't had much luck germinating this batch (although he's done fine with other philli seed I've sent). I've posted this plant as laevigatum "like" because of the nebulous taxonomy you've described and the original tag called...

    laevigatum grown in a basket

It's kind of weird that this basket doesn't get much of any moss/fern growth while nearby baskets (even those directly overhead, and dropping spores) get decent m/f growth. I've pulled some fern out in the past, and don't know why it hasn't come back in this basket like it does in others...

    laevigatum grown in a basket

Here's my laevegatum got it as a decent clump to start with, but growths were under 10" span, and now they are generally over 12" span. The blooming growth is 14". (Which is really small compared to my roebelinii type phillis). Here's 4 of 5 new starts some root shots The...

    Cypripedium calceolus

Don't worry about that. Dr Z operates a orchid micro-propagation lab dedicated to orchid conservation. He specializes in mycorrhizal relationships and collaboration with other successful flaskers would always be viewed as potential to learn new insights.

:rollhappy: the concept of a huge mature seedling cracks me up, probably more-so if I didn't have half a dozen like that:mad: I'll add a pic of my plant in basket to your thread for comparison.

    Masdevallia decumana

    Dang Why don't I have this one:drool:

I really like this species.:clap: There are also some really nice dark colored versions I need to keep my eyes open for.
