that sounds cool. i wonder if keeping fast growing aquatic plants (or a pothos in the sump “upstream” of the phrags) would help clean up the water before it gets to them. i guess there’s also the possibility they soak up ammonia/nitrite/nitrate TOO well and leave little nitrogen for the phrags

Replated the plantlets two weeks ago after noticing some leaf browning. The browning seems to have stopped since replating!

Update: replated the remaining colchicine-treated protocorms last weekend!

An update on my one compot from this cross, 7 months after deflasking. They aren’t doing as well as my other cross deflasked at the same time (Saint Swithin x delenatii) but they were also deflasked much smaller comparatively. Starting to see some mottling in the leaves of the largest seedling now!

I also deflasked the control group two months ago. Four compots!

Unfortunately the weak dose group ended up browning and died (keeping them submerged for several months probably did a number on em). However, the strong dose group is still around. I’m seeing some proliferation now with one patch growing leaves and another patch being entirely callus tissue at...

7 months post deflasking, and about 2 years since pollinating the mother plant. The seedlings are growing steadily 🙂

10 month update: the plantlets have put on some size! The decreased chlorophyll expression in some of them seems to be persisting as well. I haven’t seen much (if any) root growth yet, but hopefully soon.

I find the “cleft chin” pouch of some individuals of this species to be really charming. Does anyone have previously bloomed plants with this cleft pouch that they’re looking to let go of? The photo attached is not mine, but is listed here as an example of what I’m looking for:
