I bought a plant a couple years ago in flower with the intention of putting it on an old tree stump but never got around to it. Meanwhile the poor thing has been sitting in a tiny pot in pure gravel and still managed to put out three new stolons and grow a mature new growth. Finally, it was put it in a basket lined with coconut fiber today.

It is planted in a 1:1:1 mix of fine bark, charcoal, and coarse perlite, and topped with a thin layer of gravel. I poked a bunch of holes in the coconut fiber to aid in drainage and also to give the stolons exits should they want to grow that way.

I've got my fingers crossed.

Nice plant. They shouldn't have any problem on filling the baskets.

I have mine in baskets too. When I potted mine in coconut liner. It didn't have problems going through the basket liner. I just re-potted mine again. It was only 2 growths when I got it 2 years ago from Orchid Inn.

Those baskets make me green with envy. Good job!
My armeniacum is just sitting and sulking after blooming back in 2012, nevermind runners.
I clearly need another one...

As an experiment, I just over-wintered a basket with a few(5) armeniacum seedlings in a "frost-free" greenhouse. Temperature range 5-10C over the winter months Dec-March. Little humidity but some slight irrigation. The seedlings look great btw.
