a little while back I asked here if anyone wanted to trade pollen from a fragrant paph delenatii, so that I use it to try and make some fragrant (my plant isn't) delenatii seedlings. slippertalk member here tenman answered my note and said that he had a few dozen seedlings left from a flasking, and sent me a plant in bud! (!) he also sent another very nice seedling not in bud, but even larger than the plant with a bud on it for our recent orchid auction! now that's service above and beyond the call of duty! I sent him divisions of trichopilia suavis and maculata...

the bud is finally almost completely open, is a bit more pink than the flowers on my original plant, and have a nice lemony-rose fragrance!

It ALMOST looks like a semi-alba delenatii to me, as light pink that it is. Nice follow through blooming Charles.

thanks. this plant's flowers are more pink uniformly than the other one I have. what makes a semi-alba del different than a regular one?

- I did a web search and here someone had posted a pic of a semi-alba, and pointed out that the staminode wouldn't have any pink on it over the yellow; this and my other plant both have it, this one moreso. wishful thinking, and getting my hopes up! (smile)

I think you are right about the staminode lacking pink Charles. You have an interesting delei to say the least. I'm not sure what to think of it. It's definitely not standard, I would hang on to it.

Mmmmm! Yummy! Mine doesn't have fragrance, either. That's a keeper, all right! Are you using it to cross?

just a note that the outcross with my other delenatii did take, and has a viable pod on it. anybody know how long a pod has to stay on this species until it usually opens, or when a greenpod is finished enough to take off? it was the middle of this may when it was pollinated
thanks,
charles

Can't quite remember, but I think parvi's in general are not long. 5-6 months. Leo may be a good one to check with on this.

update: the pod did start opening a few weeks ago so collected and sent the seed to troymeyers.com . the outcross isn't listed on the site yet since a seed assay hasn't been done yet, but will later likely be available with code TN6910 for checking on making flask reservation notifications

I also collected and sent in seed from my phal lueddemanniana 'dark tiger' whose code is TN6911. same deal, not displayed yet but should be soon.

there are still paph seedlings available on his website as well

(just a note for me or anyone else that the full ripe seed pod time for the paph delenatii was 7+ months)
