This is for PC owners: The news tonight was all about the Conflicker Worm that is supposed to do something, no one knows what, on April 1st. I found a good reference about it at Symantec's web site:
http://www.symantec.com/norton/theme.jsp?themeid=conficker_worm&inid=us_ghp_link_conficker_worm

Note that the site says that if you can't open that page, you likely are infected. The worm targets Microsoft Vista and Windows XP. Apparently if you are using a Mac or earlier versions of Windows, you are not a target.

This short article in the paper this morning:
"Conficker computer worm is wiggling -- San Francisco -- The Conficker computer worm is stirring. As many as 12 million computers have been infected. Security firm Trend Micro said some of the machines have been updated over the past few days with fake antivirus software -- the first attempt by Conficker's authors to profit from their massive 'botnet." Criminals use bogus security software to eztort money. Victims are told their computers are infected and can be fixed only by paying for a cleanup that never happens. Conficker gets on computers through a hole Microsoft Corp. patched in October 2009. PCs set up for automatic Windows updates should be clean."

ummm... i hope the article was wrong 'cause if it's ain't patched until october 2009, we may all be up the proverbial creek....
