I know this is a few days early, but couldn't wait.
I have been patiently watching the little green bud to grow. The petals turned dark yesterday and earlier today when I looked at it, it was "red" all over and just began to open.

I'm not sure what to call the color, dark coral pink, I guess?
Whatever it is, I am in love with the color of this flower!
I guess I understand why people like besseae hybrids so much!

will update once it fully opens.

I think the only thing missing is the size, although it is delicate and cute as is.

What are some hybrids that look like this but with bigger flower size? and preferably a smallish plant?

Good gracious what a wonderful color!!!! The shape ain't
bad neither. Now see what you've done Happy...I'll have to
try to find a Barbara Leann. Confess where you found this
one...please.

The color has what I call a bluish tone from the fischeri influence. There aren't many big flowering ficheri hybrids unless you consider the hybrids with Pk, like Ekolu Quintal or Agnes Atkinson. Yay besseae hybrids!

I bought this one from eBay vendor, monkybusiness.

I wish I had bought two or three just to see some variations, but I'm happy with this one. so cute!

will update the photo as it is fully open, it seems.

I'll have to look into Agnes Atkinson. It looks nice.
Things like Ekolu Quintal, and even my Sedenii, where the upper ridge of the pouch shows, I find it ugly. :p

I like the pouch hanging neatly and tightly up to the flower center.

Thank you so much for the info. Happy. I'll be watching for
monkeybusiness to offer Leann again. There's one on
ebay now, but I'm not familiar with the vendor and the
sample photo isn't nearly as beautiful as the one you have.

Those little windows on the sides of the pouch is very interesting!
I don't like it because they remind me of shark gills, but I wonder how they help plants survival?
Any ideas?? Of course, we're talking about species besseae.
