I believe that they dislike having their roots remain wet so I mount. I have seen them do very well in pots with straight styrofoam chunks.

I agree. People need to start mounting orchids like these, but they don’t dare to because of too low humidity. Just take Schoenorchis fragrans. It dies so easily from overwatering especially if the humidity is high but does well in drier air if it can be watered more frequently.
