I usually buy plants online in quantities of at least 6 to 15 pcs. Out of the group, one or more plants are not as healthy or not the right size as the others. One time, I even got a newly potted plant with no live roots. So my question is, is it an acceptable request to ask for pictures before you buy the plants?

Thanks

No excuses for unhealthy plants, but it might be unreasonable to expect that a vendor would have 15 plants of one cross all at the same size. Especially smaller vendors, which is almost everybody these days.

I certainly couldn't do 15 identical plants, if I have 15 plants of any given cross they will definitely be a range of large and smaller plants.

Thanks guys.

Troy, I don't want to say names here.

Littlefrog, the most I would get is two of the same grex.

I think when the vendor knows the buyer, most likely the buyer gets some extra attention.

I did report one time and showed a picture of a plant with only one dead root dangling when I took it out of the pot, I was even surprised that the plant was still alive. The response was that my order was prepared by somebody else not the owner. The vendor promised to send me a replacement when I order "again" in the future. Well, I have to order and ask for the replacement and this time the plant was better and bigger.

So I have a feeling that if you are "just" a buyer, you will most likely get the mediocre ones.

No body seems to have this problem from the active members here, so I'm guessing, most vendors know you already.

If I have to say names, I would mention the good guys I dealt with. Tom from Fox Valley and Fred from SVO. They treat me like I am special.
