Hi!
I woke up this morning and stepped into the greenhouse as my coffee was brewing. I was quite surprised to see pink out of the corner of my eye. Lo and behold, this little beauty was blooming! This one is Cattleya mossiae 'Bonneycrest' x Cattleya mossiae 'R.E. Patterson'. The tag says Hoosier Orchid Company, so it must have been from my last purchase from them before they went out of business. Anyway, I believe that both parents are classic old clones of the species. I'm very delighted with the result! Each flower has a natural spread of five inches. More if I would spread them apart.
I could only detect a very mild, spicy fragrance. But then again, I'm a bit congested due to allergies. I'll check again tomorrow.
Best Regards,
Nik
