Setting aside the question of whether dogs should be eaten at all. Historically many cultures and populations have eaten dogs at least as a last resort, and some still do. And virtually every other species as well, including humans. Where you place dogs on the continuum of whether eating any animal is wrong, from termites to elephants, is a debate I hope no one wants to have here.

Deliberate cruelty to any animal is wrong.
Inhumane treatment of an animal being slaughtered for food is wrong.
Misrepresenting what kind of meat you are selling is wrong.
Selling poisoned meat as food is wrong.
And everyone knows these things, but they do them anyway.

Sometimes I am profoundly ashamed of my species. Whatever good and beautiful things humans have attained are completely negated by things like this. And there are worse things out there.

This is what I wonder about. I think some humans are so divorced from compassion that they don't even understand what they do.
Personally, I believe it's about time people are made to realise that animals are capable of suffering as much as humans. What I find horrifying is the fact that some people will still go and sit on a beach in Bali after seeing this. Relentless condemnation by ''leaders'' is what is called for.

I'm with Eric.

With that says, people eat dogs in Korea. Not everyone. I don't because the meat smells strange to me. Otherwise, I would probably eat it just like I would beef, pork, chicken, fish...etc.
When dog lovers protest against eating dogs, I understand where they come from, but I see it as ignorance & lack of respect for & understanding of cultural diversity.
