We had a 4.5 earthquake shortly after midnight this morning. It lasted just a few seconds. Long enough to wake me up but too short to keep me awake. The shock was centered on the south shore of the Saint-Lawrence river about 80 km from where I live. Earthquakes that strong rarely happen here. Maybe there's a big one in our future.

Actually, the smaller quakes are beneficial in that they take pressure off the fault without causing serious damage. Much better to have a 4.5 quake than a 7.0 or 8.0.

How did react your cats??

No particular reaction. If they felt it, they went back to sleep like I did. We seem to have adjusted to the same sleeping paterns. We all go to sleep at the same time and we all wake up at the same time. and then they go back to sleep on their own the rest of the day.

... you mean they sleep, and when they get hungry they wake you up, after which they then go back to sleep? :rollhappy:

we're not too tremendously far from the st. lawrence river here, and didn't hear anything about it on the news

I forgot to say we also like to play checkers and have a drink before we go to bed.:p

That might be enough to simulate a quake. :D

Do you have Fracking anywhere near you???

None in my area and only some tests have been done so far down river. There is considerable popular opposition to it in Quebec and our newly elected provincial government is unlikely to allow it.

I live in Saskatchewan, but I was actually talking to a friend of mine from Quebec on Facebook as the earthquake happened.

Earthquakes give a weird feeling, but funny at the same time. Fortunatelly yours, was a relatively small one..! :)
