First bloom dalessandroi

This flower is opening currently. It is this plants first bloom and I adore the color. Picture does not do it justice!

Is it just me, or do these flowers open very slowly?

Both plants in this picture are Phrag. dalessandroi

The plant currently in bloom is the one closest. The plant behind it, I accidentally knocked the first bud off, so I'll have to wait longer.

Both are forming some "branches" and have new leads coming too!

Isn't this a variety of P. besseae? Like P. besseae var. dalessandroi? Or did they give it it's own species name? I'm a little behind the times I guess. What's going on here?

I'm not sure how it is recognized officially, but 50% of the growers I've spoken to call it a distinct species. The other 50% consider it a variety of besseae. Me, I just label it the way it comes to me! hahaha

They came from the breeding of a well known grower and came to us via third party. I'd love to say more, but because I'm a retail grower, I don't want to be bypassed. Hope you understand.

I'll post a picture from today of both plants so you can see them now.
