This is besseae "Crystelle" x kovachii. It is just over 13 cm wide, but not entirely flat. I'll see what it looks like next year. I have two others in bud that are kovachii x besseae var flavum from a flask that has already picked up an AM of 86 points. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Your managing something I can't do: growing phals and phrags together. The Fritz is nice.

I'm not sure. The bud opened just a few feet in front of one of the fans. Maybe it dried out? There is another bud that should open in a few weeks. I'll see if that one shows the same problem.

It is also possible that the petals are so large that they tear the dorsal sepal as they push open. If that is true, it might help if the humidity is as high as possible as these open.
