I have three large (60 gallons+) rain water storage barrels available. They are dark grey, very heavy duty plastic with black fitted lids.....$10 each but they must be picked up. If you're within driving distance and interested just give me a PM or reply on here.

Since my collection is now less then 20 plants I no longer need all six of my barrels.....so no point in keeping them.

You only have 20 plants???!!!:sob:

Hi Dot,

Yes I actually have 19. I find my interest in growing orchids has gone south in the past few months. I'm no longer obsessed....in fact I may eventually find homes for the ones I still have. I still love orchids but am not enthused like I once was. It happens. :(:D

Can you keep your rain barrels and use the water for your lawn and/or garden?

We already have a big water barrel (connected to the downspout from the roof) at the side of our house. It has an overflow on it that drains into a pipe and that pipe runs to the back of our yard. It effectively waters our lawn/garden evenly so that the barrel doesn't just overflow onto the ground.

These barrels are just too big for us to keep around. I still have three others in the basement.

Must be that golf has supplanted orchids? Or maybe just that life happens.

In the winter orchids are my thing and I even go to all the society meetings.....come warm weather golf takes over. I decided to keep a small collection as it gives me more enjoyment to care for. We're doing a bit more travelling now as well so cutting back just made sense. Who knows...maybe in a few years I'll start building my collection back up to previous numbers but for now a few quality Paphs keeps my happy.

I might be interested Wendy, but probably not in all. Could you send me pics so I can show Christian?
I am very saddened to hear you've lost your interest :( You really were a great addition to the Orchid world :) ...and to think we've lost you to GOLF :p

A person on the golf forum has spoken up for all of them. If for some reason he doesn't take them (he said he wants them all) I will let you know first.

I STILL have orchids; just not nearly as many. And I ENJOY it that way...I've discovered other things in life as well....family, travel and golf. I'm also a firm believer in the old saying....don't knock it until you've tried it.:)

Thank you for keeping me in mind Wendy :) our neighbours have been jerks about rain barrels anyway, so no worries.

I'm more of the hide in your orchid room and talk to your plants kind of person ;) I bore very easily and am so thankful I found orchids because they truly make me happy. I can certainly appreciate having other loves and interests and let's face it orchids get in the way of a lot -they are resource consuming.

since i used to work at a golf course and played all the time, i had only a few orchids at that time. now i work a ton in the spring and summer and native orchids/pictures take up the rest of the remaining time for that, so growing my plants for a lot of the year can be be tough, and very tough on the plants. ... and since our employer keeps lengthening the amount of time that we are on seasonal layoff in late fall/winter, more money is needed for survival in the off-season making it tougher to justify buying plants that will likely get in rough shape in the spring.

so, i know where you're coming from! ... and buying the latest new driver all the time (wendy) does impact the orchid purchasing power :rollhappy:

I actually discovered my first native orchid on a golf course! (where i worked)

Wendy--how could you ? You are giving my countrymen a bad name--tired of orchids!!:)
BTW I've been busy trying to kill that damned ant!:rollhappy:

You guys are just too funny!

That bug is cool isn't it?

PS.....I have a Paph haynaldianum in bud and a couple other Paphs in sheath. Almost photo time.
