Here is the giant Stanhopea I purchased recently. I'm going to be dividing it soon, although I wish it wasn't necessary.Unfortunately, as I'm sure you all will agree, space is hard to come by in a greenhouse.

Just place it in a solid basket, ( there seems to be much place left in the higher part of your gh!!! ) at least a big part of it!!! Jean

I have a huge nodosa that is similar in size. I wrapped a couple of chains around it and hoisted it up where it now hangs. I don't move it for obvious reasons. I'm thinking about moving it outside this winter though, for a better chill since it hasn't bloomed spectacularly since about 10 years ago. Wish me luck!

The spikes will form downward on the stanhopea, so you'll have to make sure that the bottom of the plant is completely open. I can see how you'd want to split it since you're commercial. But you may want to try blooming it to at least get photos to sell divisions from.

Yes, it's from Lee!

My wife tells me maybe we shouldn' divide. Now I'm trying to figure out what the hell to do with it. Can you believ it was only $100?

It has "the look of Lee" :) and yes, I can believe it. It's his nature.

I'm with Katie, I wouldn't divide it. Lee didn't, why should you?

Just hoist it high like Candace mentioned and hope for the best. And promise me if it ever blooms at show time you'll be helping with the display! I won't be taking responsibility for that one falling out of the display! :rollhappy:

Did Lee have many paphs for sale?

He had a few, but to be honest hem kept the vast mjority for himself. The paphs. I mentioned in my thread, "Yesterdays haul" were the best of what he had available. He had some great phrags., but alas I wasn't fast enough to grab them before someone else did.

Ok, the votes have been tallied, and it will NOT be divided. Although many voted to save the plant from division, only one counted- my wifes. LOL.

Now, what the hell do I do with it so customers won't hit their head. Does anyone think a plant stand would work?
