Finally I can spam this forum with stupid threads! Nah, just kidding. ;)

So, I'm from Sweden and I've been bitten by the great orchid bug pretty bad. So far I only own a bunch of Phalaenopsis, but hopefully my very first Paphiopedilum will join the crowd next week or so. I've been eying this genus for some time now, and I knew that a Paph or two would join my collection, but I didn't expect it to happen so soon.

I decided to join this forum so as to be able to bother the experts with stupid newbie questions (not to mention drool a bit over the gorgeous specimens I've seen here). I may be a newbie when it comes to Phalaenopsis, but when it comes to Paphiopedilum I'm so inexperienced that I've never even laid eyes on one in real life! :D

I wouldn't be surprised if there are some members here from Orchid Board that I might recognize.

So, um, well... nice to meet you all.

Thanks guys!

Ohh Nooo!!! You are on this forum as well!

Welcome from Canada!

I AM EVERYWHERE!

A bit like God really, but much more annoying. :rollhappy:

Welcome from NYC. Dont buy too many slippers before you have a handle on them.
Thanks Eric, I won't. I almost made the mistake of buying a Paph. Rosy Dawn, but lucky me a kind member of OB told me what kind of environment they want. I cancelled the purchase since I can't provide the low temperatures this guy wants. Hopefully I'll be able to provide for the other one.

Hello from sunny California! If you are interested in a great beginner Paph, I'd recommend P. spicerianum. I have two clones that are very sturdy, and do not complain very much about their conditions. One grows more vigorously than the other, but I think the slower growing one has nicer flowers. Maybe you might consider this Paph in the future?

Thanks for the suggestion. I think I've been eying this species actually since I like rather simple looking Paphs and this is a very cute one. :)
