Hello all. My name is Adam and I'm from the STL area. It's been awhile since I've been a part of a forum and I see a few familiar names out there from "another" forum. This looks like the place to be. I have a small pop up greenhouse out back where I grow slippers, catasetum types, and various species. I winter them in my basement under a 400w hps light. Right now my collection only numbers about 40. Looks like there's a ton of info and pics here. Looking forward to being a part of the forum! Thanks

Since you are in the St. Louis area, if you have time you should attend a meeting or two of the Orchid Society of Greater St. Louis. They are a friendly bunch and meet at MO Botanic Garden. Website. http://www.osogsl.org/

Also be sure to stop in a visit Marilyn Ledoux, at Windy Hill Orchids, straight out Manchester Rd, Hwy 100, toward Labadie, MO. She is by appointment, so call first to make sure she is home, but she is a great source of species orchids of many genera. Her favorites are the Paphs and Phrags, and Bulbophyllums. She is a great grower and her prices are mosdest even on fairly rare plants. Her website is

Haha Leo that's awesome. I know Marilyn very well and just saw her last weekend at Mid-America Judging Center. Half of my collection has come from Windy Hill. I plan on hitting some meetings at OSOGSL and used to make it on a regular basis. It is an hour and a half drive to MoBot, and with two children under two years old it is tough to make it on time after work. Thanks though and hope to see you there sometime. Arthur Chadwyck will be there next month I believe.
