I have observed that this sort of thread usually has the title "Hello from [location]" but I'm attending a college out of state so I'm not entirely sure what [location] is. Anyway, I'm originally from Oklahoma but in Massachusetts for the moment! I've been lurking on this forum for several weeks now partially to learn, partially to gaze in awe at the beautiful photos, and partially to procrastinate.

I've grown orchids for maybe four or five years now and slipper orchids for just over a year - so I'm quite new! My collection currently consists of a three mystery hybrids - a catt, paph (Fred - this one made me fall in love with slipper orchids so "he" has a name), and phal - an oncidium ornithorhynchum, paph wardii and delenatii, and a (currently) minuscule phrag Fliquet 4N. Except for Fred my slippers are all seedlings, for which I am quite grateful as when I travel home for extended periods all my orchids have to fit in my backpack (I'm hoping I'll graduate before anything gets *too* big...). For the moment this consideration and the size of my desk are limiting the expansion of this collection. Doesn't stop me from window shopping, though...

I'm not sure what else to say so I will stop here. I will attempt to not spam with too many beginner questions if I can find the answers by searching previous posts. And... have a nice day! :)

Thanks! And Heather - am in Cambridge! It's rainy right now but all the trees are blooming.

 Welcome jmelot!
Don't hestitate to ask if you can't find the answer to something, I have trouble using our search, but there's usually a member that remembers or can point me in the right direction!

I'm glad my spamming potential isn't frightening!

Heather - MIT actually (though sometimes when I'm in a particularly humanities-inclined frame of mind I wonder if I ought to have attempted to go there). I haven't seen much of MA except what is within walking or subway distance from me except for trips to Wayland and Longmeadow, but I've been impressed by the prettyness of what little I've seen.

Thanks for all the welcomes!

Jennifer
