Help!

My old computer puked about 10 days ago, I'm slowly trying to get things back to normal, if that's possible with Windows 8, what a PITA!
When I logged back on to ST, when I read posts they don't disappear, the # of unread posts doesn't change, what do I do? The unread posts are on page 2 and pretty soon it's gonna be 3 ....

It is strange i have this same problem on my iphone, which is for work but on my droid and computer it is fine. I have not been able to fix it. The only way I have found is to constantly delete cookies and history which is really annoying.

You will adapt to Windows 8 I promise. Its best if you have touch screen, I don't but I've adapted ok.
I was experiencing what you are on my work computer, but I'm no longer there are not dealing with it. lol sorry

I have the same problem but everytime I log on and off the number of new posts resets.

This may or not help - when you go to quick links, after reading new posts - can you mark forums read and does it stay that way or does it still show as unread?

If it does stay that way, maybe that might at least get rid of the pages of "unread" posts. I'll poke around the internet tomorrow and see if I can find anything out.

logged off, then got a message cookies & history deleted but when I logged back on nothing changed.After scanning 5 pages, this thread with all these posts didn't even show up as unread posts. The counter is changing, not that it is much help seeing it lies!

I'm not finding quick links, the gray bar across the top of each page has a mark forums read but when I click that, nothing changes.

I don't have much choice other than to go on my IOS laptop which has windows 7. They just offered an update today, suppose to be making it easier for us dinosaur desktop users, we'll see, I'm not holding my breath!

As it tells me no longer with XP and the old Browser as there is now update anymore for Xp

rose, I think it's called "planned obsolescence" and it really pisses me
off! I've had my MacBookPro four years and I'm expecting trouble just

Well, Angela, I've had my MBP since late 2008 and and so far so good (though I did need to add more memory this year.)

Rose - I have a quick links menu IN the grey bar at the top - that's what I was talking about. Not sure why you wouldn't have that...

My PowerBook Pro is older than Heathers, purchased in 03 -- it can only run Leopard. It works just fine, but the problem is that software has been updated beyond it's capabilities, and old software, namely Safari, runs very slow on newer websites.
