Help..! I've been waiting impatiently for this to come into bloom since I bought it in June, as it says on the tag that it is Belle Hougue Point, which is Eric Young x caudatum. I'm certain that has to be incorrect, as there simply isn't the length to the petals one would expect with a caudatum cross.

I'm virtually certain this one originates from the EYOF. So I will enquire of them this coming week. But in the meantime, any suggestions? It is a massive plant, the top of the spike in the photos measures 1.2 meters above the floor.

Also, the length of the spikes would be explained by the sargentianum in it, amongst other aspects. Sargeant Eric looks like a bullseye. Again, many thanks.

I was just rather lucky, as the woman I got it from needed more space in her greenhouse, but is a very good grower. I brought home some impressive plants at very reasonable prices. Did I mention it was a 10 hour drive to get there..?

Gorgeous plant and flower. And it branches!
It does look a lot like a Sargent Eric (sargentianum x Eric Young)

Interesting point of nomenclature. While sargentianum has no "a" after the 2nd e, the cross Sergeant Eric does, from what I have read on Phragweb. Rob is pretty reliable on these points in my experience.

Only 3 miles of water. Our ferry run is just 20 minutes, so that's not the daunting part. Its the run all the way down the M6 motorway with its roadworks and traffic that I try to avoid if at all possible..!

It could also be Phrag. Noirmont (Mem. Dick Clements x longifolium) and registered by the EYOF so it would be readily available in Europe. The protuberances are a clear indication that it has Section Lorifolia in it's background. It also looks like an Inca Embers (Andean Fire x longifolium) and I agree it could be a Sargent Eric as well.

Damn, you're right, could be any of the 3. Sargeant Eric looks most likely to my eye, but Noirmont is clearly a possibility. Would need to see more photos of Inca Embers... sigh...
