Well not that really excessive -if the plant is well established
-the plant can be really tough to establish and grow and its needs really a lot of heat to grow well

I would never bid on something that expensive. Not in my budget. I guess the seller is hoping someone out there is willing to pay that price. Who knows, maybe s/he will get it.

The Bulbophyllum beccarii is not common at all in the USA. Rare is a good description. I would say if someone pays it, it was a fair price. If you have one of the very few of something, how do you value it?

Reminds of the problem I have with divisions of awarded complex Paphs. When you want a specific clone, there are no divisions available, or if you can find one - it is very, very expensive. When you have a spare division of an awarded complex, nobody seems to want it at any price.

If they are not in a hurry to sell the plant I bet they will eventually get their price.
