I had the honor to judge this Tokyo show again (my second time, as I judged in 2020).
This time, I was put in Dr Tanaka’s team in the Paphiopedilum species, a dream come true for me since I first attended this event 15 years ago.
Two plants stood out in our category. A stunning huge micranthum album and a wardii specimen plant with over 6 well formed flowers.
The wardii eventually won the Grand Champion of the show! What is interesting is that the 2020 Grand Champion also came from my team on Paph complex hybrids. What are the odds of that?
