Purchased a flask of these several years ago from Chuck Acker. I have bloomed several and all have this white halo in the center of the flower. Some have unattractive distended pouches. So far, there have been no keepers, but I have a few that have not yet bloomed. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I noticed the halo as well, although it's a great blooming, could that be from high temps? Will 80° days 66° nights cause bessae color to fade?

I don't think high temperature is the problem, as my greenhouse is best described as cool with night time lows of 60-61 degrees. Also, I have several Fritz Schomburgs flowering nearby without problem. I have seen this halo in every plant I've bloomed from this flask.

I don't think the halo is unattractive at all. I agree with
Eric...if you want to sell some of the plants, let us know
first. I'd certainly want to bid on a couple when the spring
auction begins.

I think you're plants are great!!!! I'm worried about mine, I've got 2 bessae hybrids blooming :)

Thanks for sharing your observations of this cross. Hopefully you will have a good one from what hasn't bloomed!
