Hey All,
So far so good, stem looks real beefy.
I'll add photos as it comes along.
I think I got this one from Alfredo Manrique at the Washington DC slipper Symposium (2-14-09) [See edit below in Blue]. It has been growing real well at the cooler end by the wet-pads. There are three other small growths just starting to appear.

PS
Photo was taken with phone camera, so it's not very good.

How do the roots grow for you in SH. What PH do you keep the water?

Thanks all!

I just went out to check the tag...

I bought this one from HP Norton back in 11-3-07 at the Slipper Symposium in Orlando.

Not sure of the PH, but I use MSU the "South Florida" version, this matched up best with my water chemistry.

I top-dress with a bit of crushed shells every few months. I just water it in and it filters down into the media.

The Phrags seem to do well in the S/H, I water/flush out the pot(s) several times a week.
I have some Phrags in a bark mix that seem to be doing pretty well also, those pots are sitting in 1/4" or so of water. I have drain holes in the side of the bin that holds them and I flush out the water several x a week.

A side note:
A while back (2008) I was in Frank Smith's Phrag house and the plants were absolutely huge and perfectly grown. They were all sitting in big plastic bins (the kind you find at walmart) with water at the bottom 1/4 to 1/2" or so.
There was quite a few fans in there and lots of air movement. Very buoyant air flow, not particularly strong, but lots of it. I remember that because Olaf Gruss was there and he had commented on how buoyant the air was. I was definitely listening to every word he was saying! So I have tried to duplicate the air flow, with three rotating fans blowing above my benches and two box fans blowing above my seedlings that are under my benches. Plus the exhaust fans kick on to keep the temp down.

It was a small seedling.
The tag says:
Phrag. Kovachii Tupac Amora x Dalessandroi NO.783

Congratulations, and good luck!

my hybrid has yet to bloom with four growths and leaves to eleven inches. :(

Eric has it right!
I googled it and Orchidweb has a photo of it.
All I can say is WOW, on several different levels...

Thanks Clark,
It gets about a 45-60 minutes or so of afternoon sunlight (about 5:00-6:00).
I have one end that is "clear" lexan and has 50% shade cloth on the inside to knock the intensity back a bit.
There is a "band" of light that moves through my whole GH from east to west. It does not seem to hurt anyone, though I do have 50% Aluminet that drops down from the edge of the bench to just above the floor to block the light from burning my seedlings under the benches. Maybe that helps?

Thanks for the clarification. It is a hybrid; but, it will be a very nice one! 'Still looking forward to a photo of the flowers.

BTW: Phrag. kovachii and dalessandroi are both species, so the names should all be in lower case. Also, the clonal name of the kovachii parent should be in single quotation marks.
