Meet Jurgen Roth (kolo.topperi x prim.), a got this plant 2 years ago from Leo at the WOS show. I wasn't sure if I was gonna keep it but ....
it worked so well in my display & put it up against a blackground, it can stay for another blooming!

Preview - coming attraction - Debbie Robinson x henry.

With color like that, I could see letting it stick around for maybe even TWO more bloomings.
The color is great, I was disappointed in the flower size. It did have three buds but the 3rd was looking a bit shriveled so I pinched it off. If the flower size didn't increase but number of flowers did then it's worth the bench space, it's 4 growths & has a big wingspan!

Hi Rose,
Glad to see the flowers, I haven't bloomed any yet myself. The cross was made by Schomburg. He used a yellow primulinum, and a kolopakingii var topperi that was very pale in all segments except the dorsal, where there were nice bold stripes. The goal was to try to keep the 17 flowers on a stem trait of the topperi, improve the yellow colors of the topperi, and downsize the whole plant. If you can afford the space, see if the next blooming improves the flower count. Both kolopakingii and its variety kolopakingii var topperi are noted for the very high flower counts per inflorescence. Unfortunately they are the largest paph known for vegetation. Glad to see one of these bloom. Thanks for posting.

After hearing Leo's response, I will hold on to it!
I definitely have the color, let's hope the count goes up & oh well, there's no hope for the size!

the henry X

This is Debbie Robinson 'Algonquin' AM/AOS x henryanum.
Debbie Robinson = (appletonianum x wardii). This plant habit looks like henry, I have a 2nd one that has slightly wider, mottled leaves.

Thanks Dot!
I rather like it myself, seems like henry dominates but I can see some appletonianum & wardi as well. The plant is compact & it's been an easy grower.
