I don't want to spoil it, but there are 2 things that come to mind:

I'd very most certainly use the Sophronitis as a mother for such a cross, and just as a warning: I would expect 99% of the seedlings to be all over the place, rather than as perfect as in that picture.

Thanks for the advice John, but I'm after the warmth tolerance of the anceps as well as its other dominating characteristics. I doubt the F1 progeny will be as lovely as the pictured plants but I'm not aiming at the F1 generation. There is a plan and Camargo is just a stepping stone.
 
there is the thought that the sophronitis pollen being from a much smaller plant might not be able to make a tubule all the way down into the laelia ovary (no snickering anyone)
 
The original cross used anceps as the seed parent so that may not be accurate. Problems are more to do with genetic incompatablity once the crosses become complex. This is another reason why i want to start with primaries and select for ferilte F2 progeny to carry forward.
