I don’t have many phrags (2?) but members of my orchid society in Toronto do. Here’s one from the show table today for you Phrag lovers:



Fantastic form and color. Cross is FS x PCA.

The owner is Synea Tan, one of the best indoor orchid growers here.

Superb. It’s one of the best new grexes of 2nd gen kovachii crosses. We’ve already had a couple of good ones posted here.
The overlapping petals suggest a polyploid. Any idea of the actual clonal parents?

The owner says plant origin is from OI. The parents of this plant are Fritz Schomburg X Peruflora’s Cirila Alca.

Yes, a very nice cross indeed. I was thinking that possible Woodstream Orchids made that cross. Was at the Deep Cut show today and they did not make the cross nor do they have any.

It seems to me that if you are bringing in orchids from Canada (max 12 plants), for your personal use, restrictions are very relaxed. Call your local USDA office for info.

Yes I also heard from USDA that you can bring 12 houseplants (labeled orchid hybrids) across the border into US without permits. Subject to bug inspection.

Great news. This plant got an award today at our Toronto show with an AM of 82 points! Congrats to owner Synea Tan!
