Is fused petals to dorsel sepal culture problem or genetic? On first bloom seedling single growth

This case is from bad culture, according to a senior paph grower, the leaves were severly bleached, calcium and magnesium deficient, plant origionated from a former reputable vendor sold to me by a 3rd party, one there has been alot of discussion about here lately

'Bad luck' includes all the possible explanations and a hope that next time 'good luck' produces a normal flower, hence my comment.
