So after about 8 long months of wait, it has finally opened.
I almost thought the bud was going to dry and die.
I mean look at that dorsal. The tip started to turn tan and dry weeks ago, but strangely, it decided to open any way.
I do like the overall shape and the color is quite unique.
There is a very very very light fragrance, so I will not call it is fragrant.

Gorgeous result! The staminode is very cool. Much more Fanaticum than mine, yours is really what I was hoping to see from this cross. Unfortunately the spike on mine froze a few weeks ago so I probably won't get a bloom this year to compare.
 
The spike stands about 16 in tall. My two malipoense in bud are now about 2 feet tall.

There is a new growth with three leaves on the other side of the fan.
Not a bad grower I guess. :)
