Does anyone have images of Masd. Tangerine Dragon?
I recently purchased a few plants from a local seller named "Tangerine Dragon" and to me these blooms look nothing like what I thought.

The only image I was able to find was on Orchid Web.

The seller insists this is Tangerine Dragon, but this isn't the first problem I've had with their plants. Sigh.

I buy masd from time to time. Can you let me know which vendor so I can avoid them. PM if you don't want to publicly out them.

One of my Masd. Tangerine Dragon (Masd. mendozae x Masd. veitchiana) happened to be in bloom today.

Apologies for the hideous cell phone photo.

Thanks Scott!
That photo was super helpful! With both the orchid web photo & yours I was able to show the seller why I had my suspicions. They've agreed and I'll pick up a few new plants. :)

That is really orange.

Oh, not only is it REALLY, REALLY orange!, the interior of the flower is quite hirsute - and there is the most magnificent magenta "glow" that shimmers and changes shape from the inside right out to the edge of the flower as the viewing angle over these brilliant magenta "hairs" changes. I'm pretty sure this trait inherited from the Masdevallia veitchiana parent. The flowers can be quite large and plentiful, as well.

I have been nagging Theresa to make MORE of these for a couple years now.

OK Scott. The cross will be made before the end of the week. I have both parents in flower at this time. The best cross was mede with veitchiana 'Prince de Galle' AM/AOS.

Theresa.
