In honor of the desire to live in a country that isnt a militaristic society , i will take this opportunity to not honor our soldiers this weekend ..but to honor all those who persevere in their daily routine, and to acknowledge that death is not a sacrifice but the ultimate adventure, for this is the warrior in all of us

What's unfortunate about someone giving their life for freedom? And those who have fought in wars past doesn't preclude my ability to speak my mind. There are plenty if people who have done so and continue to do so in the face of harsh realities , even in this country. I choose not to honor our militaristic society by singling out that one component of a process that has seen many fallen heroes, not just the military .. And to embrace our cycle of life and death as an adventure and not one of pity. And being a veteran myself I know the toll of how a militaristic society can have on our compassion .. We honor our fallen heroes in sentiments but we are ill equipped in offering vets the real compassion they require when they return. We do this for all segments of society .. Because we are a war mongering society that mostly sees value in spreading our values to the rest of the world.

what is fortunate is that we could use this time to reflect upon what our country would look like if we weren't sending our young people to fight one constant war after another and diverting those funds to real change and real investment
