I have a Muriel Constance (album) from Tom Kalina that is in bloom. I have nto posted a pic yet but I will soon.

I am looking to cross it. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I was thinking with a Parvi (species or primary hybrid).

What do you want to achieve?
What would you want to improve on the Muriel Constance you have?
Armeniacum? could give you something like Wossner Bellarmi?
or an ameniacum hybrid? Armeni Whites are in bloom now.

ideally I would like to use the pure color and waxiness of the Muriel and get a larger flatter flower. I also would like to use to bring in some color into the lip but maintain some of the white also.

I was thinking a Franz Glanz, except I would like to see the album genes repeat in some of them.

Anyone have a suggestion with a primary hybrid using an album parent?

Right on Eric. I saw Hakone's and it was quite nice. I think the waxiness of mine with the delicate petals of the other would balance nicely. I don't know if I could find one at the moment though.

Another would be Tom's, Magic Lantern 'Opalescents'. That flower was top notch!

any word on any around?

Both good options, trouble is you basically need pollen now!
Can't hurt to check with Tom to see if he held on to any pollen.

No response from Tom since he posted the phili a bit ago.
I have a Magic Lantern that will hopefully be open when I get home today. Unfortunately, not Opalescents.

Hi Chad,

Unfortunately, we self pollinated our Paph. Magic Lantern 'Opalescent' JC/AOS clone a couple of weeks ago, so no extra pollen at this time. Here's a recent photo of the bloom before it was pollinated. Of all the possibilities, I would probably try (Muriel Constance x tigrinum) or (Muriel Constance x micranthum).

Tom- I could not agree more with using a micranthum with a strong, upright dorsal. I wish I had a eburneum. I am not in the best location for avid slipper growers. I know a few that have made some suggestions, but none to my liking.

Do you know which color may dominate when using an armeniacum? I know from the Hanz Glanz that there can be a large amount of variation. Some I do not mind, but I would like to have some expectations.

Eric-Thanks. I have one that I am picking up today for about the same price as the one you mentioned. I appreciate it.
