I bought these gems at the recent CIOS Speakers Day in Iowa. All of them came from Ecuagenera, besides one free blooming cattleya from SVO. They were selling a bunch of rare exotic orchids, as well as various tropical aroids. I got a monstera thai constellation, a white knight philodendron, and a variegated epipremnum amplissimum from them.
For the slippers, I got a Phrag. Ecuagenera Dream with a sheath/spike, an in spike Phrag. Cardinale, a Phrag. QF Maria about to bloom, a blooming size Phrag. Cuencano and Phrag. Eumelia Arias, and a previously bloomed Paph. Lowii with several new growths.
For the cattleyas, I got the tall variety of Cattleya Maxima, an Ecuagenera Cattleya Maxima cross 00139 x 00138 with 4 buds, and a large Lc. El Ranchito. The free cattleya was on the table with a bunch of other free blooming phals. The name of it is Cattleya Dean's Gold. I like it a lot due to its compact size and the fact that it looks like a miniature dowiana It also has a nice subtle fragrance.
I just potted these up, and all of them seem to be very healthy looking based on the pictures. Several of them will be blooming soon that I will post on here sooner or later. Ivan Portilla's presentations on Cattleya Maxima and the orchid species of Ecuador were also very intriguing and helpful.
