A new primary hybrid opened up, it is a cross between Paph. fowliei and henryanum. It inherited a lot of the shape of fowliei, but the colors of henryanum. It was made by Ross Hella (aka Paphreek). I like how it turned out.

Hey, I like that. I really like fowlei (it's small and has a different/cool form); but, I never thought it would be of much use in breeding. However, if I'd thought about this cross beforehand and what I'd like to see come through, this is what it would be. The colours are nice and bright and since both species, especially fowlei can easily grow into multi-stemmed specimen plants, this hybrid will probably be getting some attention at shows and judings in the future. This was an inovative cross to make.....good choice!

It looks like a henry with the dorsal spots on fire because of the way they line up with the stripes!

That's sweet -- I'm glad I purchased a compot, but they're not anywhere near blooming size yet. I think I have a hard time growing small seedlings.

Take heart, Dot. Most of mine from the second group of flasks are still quite small, also. I have a few from the first flasks that are close to blooming, but none are showing, yet.

This really nice. A beautiful blending of both parents. It's go to be interesting to see if this is "typical" of the cross or the one and only exception. Come up with a great name Ross. Who knows this cross could turnout to be the hightest awarded Paph cross ever!

PS I don't recommend Foul Henry EITHER!

Very nice, indeed. I was afraid the colours would wash out to some extend and I really like how it turned out to be.

I agree on both points!
it's Henryfol !!!

This is a pretty decent cross considering that Paph fowliei is one of the dogs of the entire genus. Thanks to the fortuitous introduction of the amazing Paph henryanum which is quite dominant, none of the negative traits are manifested. It goes to show that odd combinations of parents need to be attempted, even if many of them are terrible.
