Very nice; I can't find a listing for this on the RHS site or the web. Do you know the parents?

yes me too I'm on day search to find parents AOS either does not register

but it seems known for on Google there are other ad who.

This cross and many Dorama crosses were part of the Vacherot and Lecoufle breeding for the pot plant. Many got formal names, but not registered...

Doreus is Dorama x Actaeus and it has never been registered so far. There is as well Doramasan, registered, Doramatic = Doreus x Dorama if I remember correctly for that one, Doramasire...

It's lucky to see a photo of that cross here, it is the type of cross I mentionned in the fake Villosum var album thread. Several crosses like that, that Vacherot and Lecoufle exported to Indochina at that time, are sold as villosum var. album or gratrixianum album, at very expensive prices.

Interesting history, as Dot said.
Vacherot-Lecoufle did register Doraeus, as well as the one parent Dora, so how do you know what is what? We know how easily mispellings occur on tags too. It's sounding like these were shady characters.:(

With names as similar as Doreus and Doraeus, crosses of very similar breeding made about 70 years ago, only one of them registered, I don't think there is any way to be sure which plant this is unless it is a recent remake.

Mmmh...

Doreus is for sure the Dorama x Actaeus, so Doraeus is Dora x San Actaeus... I found out that there is as well a Doreum in the old list I have, which is apparently Doramatic x niveum, the only x brachy cross of the whole batch...

There was a complete flock of those hybrids using only 3-4 grand parents, and they were extremely popular for both cut flower and pot-plant. The great-grandson of the Indochinese importer still has some pictures that are very funny, hope to pick them up and make some scan one day.

All those hybrids are still alive in fact in Da Lat, and some should still be around in Italy. At the same time, it is interesting to note that there has been a lot of miltoniopsis imported, and some are still alive. Another batch of miltoniopsis reached Da Lat in the late 50's, and there are still divisions around.
