You all may remember this:

Well here it is opened:

philippinense X platyphyllum

The petals move a lot while photographing the flowers

  more multis!
When I read the title, I was thinking an older X & certainly not a multi!

That's pretty much it Jean, the spike comes out horizonal. The first time it bloomed for me it had 6 flowers displayed the same way 2 years ago.

Very Nice! It is nice to see one of my babies all grown up! (I assume you got it from Orchids Limited).

I've been told it's dangerous to assume anything ,(esp when it comes to my wife!)no, I bought this plant from a fellow society member who got out of the orchid growing business to travel with his wife! 20.00 bucks and it was mine. At the time it was labelled Mount Toro, philly X stonei var. latifolium 'Ruth Kennedy' (which we all know is P. platyphyullum now).

It would get passed over as Mt Toro on a judging table BUT as Duke of Marobough, well I'm thinking high AM or more!:D

PS. he probably got it from you all:wink:

No, actually I used a different platyphyllum. My cross was Paph. philippinense var. roebellinii 'Twisted Petals' x platyphyllum 'Long Petals', so someone else made your plant (but I was the one that registered the cross).

Robert

I knew about the registration, being OL's. But I wondered about this particular cross because he had at least 4 pots with 5+ growths in ea. So if the plant could put on 2 growths per year and one old growth dieing off every couple of years plus time it took from pollination to bloom, it would have to be twenty years old or older. Robert were you making Paph crosses 20 years ago? This plant is probably one those Rands crosses!
