This is a first bloom seedling and I'm not in love with it. It's got some pouch problems. Maybe it will bloom better next time.

Pouch aside, the shape is pretty typical for Brachy/Coclopetalum crosses. I find even the flatter flowers somewhat uninspiring, personally. Here's two flowers of a similar cross: Paph (moquettianum x Psyche). Needless to say, neither are in my collection anymore.

Aside from the pouch spur I would think it's worth giving another try. Next time the pouch might be more even. It's certainly an interesting hybrid.

Well, the bad thing is, it's a multifloral. Next time you'll get three flowers like that

Give it a second chance if you have the space. It has its flaws, but I don't find it ugly.

 :rollhappy: somethings one doesn't always think of!
I have to agree with Carsten, I've certainly seen worse but it's your bench space! Here we a good example of one woman's trash, is anothers treasure!

isn't Fantasy World (chamberlainianum x Greyi) and Walnut Valley (moquettianum x Greyi)? I have a Walnut Valley from Carter and Holmes in spike now and love it immensely. Blooms are more nicely shaped, have more pigment, 4-5 blooms/spike, and they go to a buttery yellow over time.

Thanks Forrest. When I searched OW to see if this cross was registered, it didn't (and still won't) come up correctly.?? When I type in moquettianum I keep getting cham. var. moquettianum or glaucophylum var. moquettianum x Greyi. Each has its own registered name. So...I don't know what the accurate "name" is. All I know is that it's also from Carter and Holmes and the tag says moquettianum 'Pine Knot' x greyii. If you say yours is a nice one, that's great. I'm probably not going to stress about the accurate, registered name since it may not be in residency for too long;>

i hate and stay away from intersectional crosses when the two are very seperated for this exact reason.

here's mine from last blooming (Jan 08), pretty variable, I'd like to see some more examples of this cross.
