Nice example of this species. This clone has received an AM award (not by me) but for bizarre reasons the award was never registered.

WOW :drool::clap:. Love the photo. I think sometimes awards don't get registered because they don't get paid for.

Our orchid society pays for our award registrations. They/we consider it very prestigous for the society when our members get awards so they are happy to pay for it.

This wasn't the reason the glaucophyllum wasn't registered. It was basically a protest against the overall judging. The fact of the matter is that the plant is clearly award quality. Maybe I will have it judged one day. The last time I flowered it our local society took it up to a big Sydney show where it won champion species. The senior judge told the person who took it up that it was award quality. Made me think why the hell didn't they award it then.

Very strange about the award.

I agree. So are you saying that the society was protesting the judging? Of this plant, or the show in general? Couldn't someone else have paid for the award registration? I guess I'm not understanding the politics.

From what I was told, the glaucophyllum won Champion Orchid of the show and got an AM award while a cattelya won Reserve champion and got a HCC award. The person in question felt the judges got it wrong as he believed the Cattelya should have been champion. Hence he never bothered to register the award for the Paph. Don't ask me explain the logic. To my eyes the glaucophyllum is worthy of an AM award regardless.
