A nice little species that is open at the moment.
When I bought it two years ago it was labeled as virens, but my impression is that javanicum is the accepted name. (?)

Nice Faan. Is it completely open? I thought the dorsal would stand taller and maybe reflex slightly.

The picture was taken only a day or two after opening, but there is no reflex at all.
Last year the flower was all crooked and I was very disappoited, but decided to leave it for another year and I am glad I did.

Quite a nice flower, I think the dorsal should stand up a little more in a few days time. Virens is currently being accepted as a variety of javanicum, yes.

That's very pretty. I like the nice bright green.

Do you know the origin of this plant? I think that virens is also specific to Borneo in distribution.

And I think your plant was labeled properly. This flower is P. javanicum var. virens at least in my eyes.
I cite from 'Paphiopedilum' of Dr. Guido Braem: This variety differs from the typical Paphiopedilum javanicum by its smaller flowers, the glossy dark green ground colour paired with a glossy deep brown pouch." There is also a bloom pictured and yours looks exactly like this one.

Best regards from Germany, rudolf
