This is one I acquired in a trade about ten years ago. I wish I could remember the guy's name ( I _think_ it was Jason something, but it's been a long time). We had traded twice previously and I was happy with the plants I received. The last trade, however, brought me some dead plants and a few that didn't end up making it. This was one which arrived in that box almost dead. It's been doing well for years now but this is the first bloom. I was very pleased to see it bloom as I had wanted to see the lovely flower I traded for. Now that it has bloomed, I can clearly see it is not what I was supposed to have received.
An interesting flower, a bit unusual, I was hoping someone here might have a name for it.

i would call it an orchid. i'll go so far as to say it's a Paph.
beyond that, i have a feeling it goes by the name of george

Definitely not a Leyburnense! Could be a Leeanum, if it is, it's a beauty I wouldn't mind having!

Leeanum is certainly in the back ground. The properties of the insigne (green spotted dorsal) and spicerianum (dorsal stripe an dark petals and pounch) suggest it is one of the parents. The bright colours suggest villosum or barbigerum is in the mix. Perhaps even Leeanum x nitens given the strong insigne influence. Of course this is all speculation...

Bottom line, its very pretty and I like it. I'm glad there there are many of us who prefer a pretty flower to a long pedigree.

I dealt with a guy named Jason in past as well and I didn't like any of the dealings I had with him. It was all too shady for me. I got the feeling he was getting his plant at a five finger discount from a firm in Washington State or Oregon. He also hopped a round San Fran too.
