Dot; that's my understanding also. The yellow form was the first to be described, so, the coloratum one carries the variety name of purpurescens.
 
Beautiful! Mine first seedling bloomed and it is now on its sixth flower (as well as buds for 7th and 8th!); in the meantime it has matured another growth. Today I checked the second growth, and inside the crown I could see little hairs peeking through!!! Must be a new spike!!! There are also two other small growths that are about halfway mature.

This is a very rewarding, beautiful slipper.
 
Very Nice!! And very good picture!! I like how sharp it is; you can almost touch the flower. What kind of camera did you use?
