This is one of a number of vini/coloratum 'maudiae' type paphs I inherited a few years back. I realized I hadn't snapped it yet and did so before sending it to the out-of-town show; you never know what condition a plant will be in when you get it back. Some venues are abysmally hot and dry (or you get a spot in full sun, under a heat duct, or beside a cold, drafty, often-open door to the cold weather outside), some show visitors are uncivilized and actually try to touch and handle the flowers, and then there are the vagaries of transport, set-up, tear-down, etc. I've learned not to wait til after a show to get a pic.

This one I will probably keep. Many in this group just don't have good form, don't open fully, etc. I so far have held on to the 'bad' ones as well to give them a second blooming to re-evaluate them. I can't imagine keeping more than a couple - they're all so similar I can't justify devoting a great deal of space to these. I know a lot of folks were very into these, but they never held a great deal of appeal to me. Fortunately, multiple-growth plants of these still fit in 2 1/4" (5.7cm) pots!

I'm not overly thrilled with vinis either, but they're easy bloomers and if you get sick of them are great gifts:>

By itself it looks pleasing but given the two parents, it didn't inherit the best traits eg. huge, round dorsal. I would probably past it on.
