First time it has flowered for me. Nice colour but the flowers are a bit small.

It is only a small plant so it should improve. This plant has been a real battle for me but has picked up recently.

Paph St Low (St Swithin x lowii)

Yeap, great color David. What has been the fits with this plant?..rot?

No, it didn't get rot Rick. I had a problem a few years back when I sprayed a fungicide. It did a bit of damage to some of my plants. This plant had an old flowered growth and the current (small) lead. The old growth completely died leaving just the small new growth. From that point it has grown very slowly. I'd almost given up on it. Last year it finally picked up and put on a bit of size. Although it is still relatively small in size hence only the 2 flowers. This plant has some way to go before reaching its potential.

Its really a beauty. I sincerely hope it continues to progress for you.

Very nice and the colors are vibrant! I had one of these but I think I've since lost it. It wasn't a vigorous grower for me. Mine had more St. Swithin influence in the flowers than yours does.

David,
Does your plant lean towards yellow coloring in the leaves rather then green? Such as, lower leaves and near the stem of the plant. I find in some of my lowii hybrids, especially Julius, this happens and I'm at a loss as what brings it on.

Yes, Rick this one does certainly. It has an unhealthy looking yellow colour to it. My Julius is fine though. Nice dark green leaves on it. You will see it in flower shortly. I may have one or two other lowii hybrids that are similar but then others are fine. I remember my Michael Koopowitz x lowii use to be really light yellow and sickly looking, but now it is a beautiful dark green colour. Maybe a change in culture.

This St Low has been a shocker to grow. It has taken 5 or 6 years to get this growth to flower. It is still quite a weak plant. Hopefully it will start to pick up.
