Nice. That was one "special" emersonii" used to make that "Sugar Suite" so sweet... That fat, flat dorsal and staminode pattern speak volumes.

That really stinks. It is mislabeled and I could not even spell, 'Sugar'.

Don't feel bad! The plant is excellent! It is not the sellers fault. A lot of Paph Sugar Suite where mislabeled even plants were awarded as such even though they where Paph. Chou Yi-Yuki I have posted my plant and here is the link to the thread. http://www.slippertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13061 The picture is at the last page. It got deleted and I reposted it again. To see the real Paph. Sugar Suite, here is the link to the Thread http://www.slippertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13303. Notice the depression and yellow on the staminode and the mottling and darker yellow shade on the pouch.

Actually, I think you got a better plant. Sugar Suites are nice, but are common and this is a "new" hybrid that I think most people would take off your hands if you really preferred a Sugar Suite.

That tells me why the grower was selling it as "Sugar Suite" and his plant was awarded.

Thank you guys for the clarification. :D

You see Naoki, Paph. hangianum is fairly new and crosses with it is fairly new and just coming out. With the CITES you cannot sell plants with any hangianum in its background. Some breeders sold their hangianum cross as sugar suite to countries that are under CITES and has been distributed around. If the nursery bought a flask as Paph. Sugar Suite it will be label as such. As for the awards, the cross has a flower that looks very similar to the true Paph. Sugar Suite and is fairly new as mentioned. Some judging centers may not be as familiar with the cross may award it as Paph. Sugar Suite. They have caught on and will not award another one. Also the AOS may revoke an award if the plants identification is in question and be proved as not the cross.

Ramon:)
