I got this plant as a seedling a couple of years ago...

It was labelled as Paphiopedilum sukhakulii but I am not sure... staminodia seem to me ok, but the size and distribution of spots is not the characteristic for a sukhakulii.. what do you think?

It is a hybrid of sukahakulii with a Maudae type evolved from callosum 'Jac'.

?????????????? Was 'Jac' not a vini, then sunk into crossii, then into viniferum?

Dont think it is pure suk, looks closer to argus, so a hybrid of the two would be a safe bet. Cant say I have ever seen the hybrid, so cant say for sure, but should be closer to the mark.

definitely not, suk has pointy petals, these looked rounded even with the tips reflexing back.
It's got some nice characteristics, I do like the dots along the lines in the dorsal, the heavy spots & the pouch color is rich!

'Jac' was a vinicolored flower that created 'flame' callosum types which have very distinctive bold spotting on the petals and often spots or lines in the dorsal sepal. Typically the flowers have a large range of color from dark to light. Argus is a possibility but it is rarely used in hybridizing.....some think it is one of the actual parents of Paph Cymotodes 'Beechense'.

The first thing I said when I saw that picture was "Whoa!". So, as everyone has already emphasized, not sukhakulii.

Thanks a lot,

Seems that this one is not going to be included in our breeding line. I like it very much but it is going to the NOID table.
I hate when the plants are not correctly labelled...

Best wishes
Eliseo
