I bought this at Petite Plaisance going out of bussiness sale for $10. It was in bud at the time. The cross is 'Sheila' x 'Los Osos' AM/AOS.

It looks like one of the PARENTS is an AM awarded plant, not the seedling. Still a nice flower

A blooming suk is a good one for me here in TX. I have one that is in bud for several months now but a lot of the times that's all I get. The buds will set in the crown of the plant and never elongate, then just brown off. I think it has to be a temperture issue.

sukhakulii is at the top of my list, as I took off argus because its affinity for cool temps. Yours looks like a nice one.

Do you mean cool winter temps? Argus like it just as warm as suks during the summer, but they do seem to like that cooler winter rest.

Yes, there is just no way I can currently give them the nighttime lows. From what I read they need down into the 40s at night in the winter.

I am looking for a suk. but have not yet found one I like.

Go for suk.........while it does require a cooler period than other barbata, you do not need temps in the 40's. I don't even bother to keep it in my cool room...just in my light garden. The first cool days of Oct. are enough. Take care, Eric

I wouldn't go that extreme. I've bloomed them getting into the mid 50's. They also like some pretty bright light in early spring to push them along.

Suk is a much more even tempered creature all around.
