A few first bloom charlies from HungSheng are in bud and blooming. So far the first one looks typical of species.



Let’s hope the next few may be have darker pink dorsals as they are selected line breeding.

It’s quite big with long leaves about 25 cm. It has 2 old unbloomed and 2 new large blooming growths.

I feel for you, Leslie..... line breeding is in the end genetics with all its imponderabilities. But to say it frankly.....I like this flower a lot.

glad to hear you say that ... i'd been wrestling with where to put mine, and put 2 of the album grex from Sam with my fairies... and damned if they both aren't in bud...

never been able to bloom one.
bought some expensive ones from OZ in the past. grew fine but never bloomed. finally gave up and sold them recently.
Bought a new seedling from Hillsview last year. It came into bud which was exciting, but then the bud blasted. So much for the excitment.
That was last summer and the same seedling is growing well but no signs of spiking this year. Then, I have a crappy sad looking multiple growths album. I'm about done with this species. had enough.

Hmmmm that kind of experience puts this species to pasture, like me with urbanianum lol.
